President Donald Trump welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews with red carpet, military honors and flyover for a state visit. Leaders to discuss trade, AI, semiconductors, and critical minerals. Xi is calling for China and US to develop as partners rather than rivals. This is the big market mover today.

US-CHINA TRADE TRUCE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 10

Washington and Beijing agreed to extend their trade truce until January 10 per Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Extension gives more time to negotiate tariffs and restrictions. Does not resolve broader disputes but keeps framework alive while talks continue.

JUDGE ORDERS WHITE HOUSE TO RESTORE PRESS ACCESS

Federal judge ordered Trump administration to restore White House access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico after administration restricted them. Judge said dispute is about constitutional protections and press freedom. Further appeals possible.

MARKETS PULLBACK - TREASURY YIELDS HIGHEST SINCE 2007

Stocks pointing lower Thursday: Dow and S&P futures down 0.3% and 0.6%, Nasdaq down near 1%. 10-year Treasury yield hit 5.15%, now 5.13% — highest since 2007. Oil up to $93 barrel on inflation fears.
